Susan Jane Currie, 62, of Mattoon, died at 8:15 a.m. on Saturday, August 4, 2012, at Carl Foundation Hospital, Urbana IL.
Visitation for family and friends will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 7, at the Schilling Funeral Home, 1301 Charleston Avenue in Mattoon. Funeral services honoring her life will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 8, at the Schilling Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Dodge Grove Cemetery, Mattoon, IL.
Sue was born December 16, 1949 in Mattoon, IL, a daughter of Harry and Thella (Damon) Hogan. She married Douglas M. Currie Jr. in 1986.
Survivors include her husband, Douglas M. Currie Jr. of Mattoon; three children, Andrea S. Wilson and fiancé Jerod Layfield of Humboldt; Bruce E. Wilson Jr. of Mattoon; Jami E. (Currie) McConnaha of Mattoon; 11 grandchildren, Charyssa (Tiffin) Schroeder and husband Josh of Spring Lake, NC; Amanda Tiffin of Terre Haute, IN; Taelor Tiffin, Lauren Kauffman, Alex Kauffman, Emilee Kuhn, Ashlynne Kuhn, Serrah Layfield all of Humboldt; Jayden and Jackson McConnaha, Devon Wilson of Mattoon; 1 great grandchild, Brayden Schroeder of Spring Lake, NC. Also surviving are three siblings, Evelyn and Clarence Knighton of Canyon Lake, TX; Jim and Ellen Hogan of Portland, OR; and Joyce and George Adams of Lebanon, MO.
Sue worked at Pacesetters Full Service Hair Salon. She was a member of the Praise Assembly of God and also the Hairdresser’s Association.
