Leola Mae Mohr, 77, of Mattoon, passed away at 8:48 p.m. on February 4, 2013 at her residence.

Funeral service will be on Friday, February 8, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at Freedom Life Ministries , 2205 Lafayette Avenue, Mattoon IL with Reverend Joe Stephens, Reverend Robert Mohr and Reverend Rob Mohr officiating. Burial to follow at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens. Visitation for family and friends will be on Thursday, February 7, 2013 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Schilling Funeral Home, 1301 Charleston Avenue, Mattoon, IL.

Leola was born on May 9, 1935 in Shelby, OH the daughter of Raymond and Miriam (Strauch) Scheerer. She married Ruben Mohr on December 19, 1965.

Survivors include her  husband, Ruben Mohr of Mattoon; five children; Catherine (Michael) Huerta of Fresno, CA; Robert (Sachiyo) Mohr of West Branch, MI; Amy (Richard) Goff of Chaska, MN; Liz (Glen) Berry of Medical Lake, WA and Julie (Joe) Stephens of Mattoon, IL; three step children, Gregg (Jan) Mohr of Laton, CA; Nancy (Michael) Koll of Wilseyville, CA and Brian Mohr; two brothers, Raymond (Bonnie) Scheerer of New London, OH and James (Carol) Scheerer of Pigeon Forge, TN; sister, Martha (Bob) Andersen of Henderson, NV; nineteen grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren.

Leola had a gift for teaching. Her passion was sharing God’s love with women through Bible Studies. She found enjoyment in a good garage sale, a day spent at an auction or doing something creative with her hands. Nothing made her more proud than her family. She loved her children and grandchildren with her entire heart.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations in her honor are suggested to her church Freedom Life Ministries , 2205 Lafayette Avenue, IL 61938.

    leola was always laughing and having a good time with our family., as i remember as a little girl on my parents farm. the get togethers were filled with good food and wonderful memories.
    she is an inspiration to us all!
