Anna Bowling, 83, of Mattoon, passed away at 4:30 a.m. on February 8, 2013 at her residence.
Funeral services honoring her life will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, February 11, 2013 at the Schilling Funeral Home, 1301 Charleston Avenue, Mattoon, IL with Reverend Dennis Kolross officiating. Burial will follow at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 12:00 p.m. until time of service on Monday, February 11, 2013 at the funeral home.
Anna was born on September 12, 1929 in Spring Valley, IL the daughter of William and Lily (Walsh) Combs. She married James H. Bowling on October 5, 1946. She was preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters.
Survivors include her loving husband of 66 years, James H. Bowling; seven children, James L. Bowling of Mattoon; Connie (Lawrence) Wilson of Mattoon; Rebecca (Rex) Cooper of Charleston; Deborah (Bob) Williams of Neoga; Cheryl (Randy) Basham of Mattoon; Pam Smith of Mattoon and Michael (Tina) Bowling of Mattoon; twelve grandchildren, Amy Miller; Justin Bowling; Angela Gesell; Amanda Ashworth; Lisa Nichols; Jason Thompson; April Banning; Chad Williams; Clayton Basham; Kassey Smith-Graziano; Danielle Gatton and Emily Bowling; twenty-four great grandchildren.
Anna was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan. She enjoyed cooking for her family. Anna had a laugh that was contagious. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family.
